Fuel feedstock determines biodiesel exhaust toxicity in a human airway epithelial cell exposure modelBiodiesel is promoted as a sustainable replacement for commercial diesel. Biodiesel fuel and exhaust properties change depending on the base feedstock oil/fat used during creation. The aims of this study were, for the first time, to compare the exhaust exposure health impacts of a wide range of biodiesels made from different feedstocks and relate these effects with the corresponding exhaust characteristics.

The role of Kingella kingae in pre-school aged children with bone and joint infectionsThe Pre-school Osteoarticular Infection (POI) study aimed to describe the burden of disease, epidemiology, microbiology and treatment of acute osteoarticular infections (OAI) and the role of Kingella kingae in these infections.

Supporting patient-clinician interaction in chronic HIV care: Design and development of a patient-reported outcomes software applicationThe consideration of health-related quality of life (HRQL) is a hallmark of best practice in HIV care. Information technology offers an opportunity to more closely engage patients with chronic HIV infection in their long-term management and support a focus on HRQL.

Early school suspensions for children with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)Children with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can have difficulty adapting to the school context and may therefore be more likely to be suspended. We examined the association between ACEs and suspensions using linked administrative data on children born in Western Australia from July 2003–June 2004.

WALLABY Pilot Survey: The Diversity of Ram Pressure Stripping of the Galactic HI Gas in the Hydra ClusterThis study uses H i image data from the Widefield ASKAP L-band Legacy All-sky Blind surveY (WALLABY) pilot survey with the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope, covering the Hydra cluster out to 2.5r 200. We present the projected phase-space distribution of H i-detected galaxies in Hydra, and identify that nearly two-thirds of the galaxies within 1.25r200 may be in the early stages of ram pressure stripping.

Protection against neonatal respiratory viral infection via maternal treatment during pregnancy with the benign immune training agent OM-85Incomplete maturation of immune regulatory functions at birth is antecedent to the heightened risk for severe respiratory infections during infancy. Our forerunner animal model studies demonstrated that maternal treatment with the microbial-derived immune training agent OM-85 during pregnancy promotes accelerated postnatal maturation of mechanisms that regulate inflammatory processes in the offspring airways.

The association of mobile touch screen device use with parent-child attachment: a systematic reviewMobile touch screen devices (smartphones and tablet computers) have become an integral part of many parents’ and children’s lives, with this interaction linked to physical, mental and social outcomes. Despite the known importance of parent-child attachment, evidence on the association between device use and attachment was yet to be reviewed.
